Wobbler Engine
This is a 3D printed, air powered version of a classic steam engine design, known as a "wobbler". The design uses the oscillating motion of the cylinder itself to pivot back and forth between the pressure inlet and outlet ports, thereby self-timing the engine and making the running RPM pressure-dependent. The cylinder itself in my design is made from SCH40 3/4" PVC pipe. The flywheel is weighted with 12 3/4" steel ball bearings, which is what I had on hand, and was easy to work with since they are all the same size and shape. The piston head is 3D printed and the piston rod is a section of 5mm steel roundstock.
